Wi-Fi is no longer seen as a threat to the cellular industry, but as an additional capability to meet growing demand. Combining licenced and un-licenced spectrum in a single small cell allows operators to make the most of their resources. This paper looks at how these two radio technologies are merging, through partnerships and co-operation rather than direct competition.
