qtel-logo Qtel, the national telecom provider for Qatar in the Middle East, announced trials of femtocells in March 2010.

The trials will cover both domestic and enterprise use. In a country with many high rise buildings and high mobile broadband data use, femtocells should offer both capacity and coverage to meet this growing demand.

Qtel have been offering an astonishing 1GByte per month of free mobile broadband internet.

No details were released about the vendors selected for this trial or timescales involved.
